The heart of Bolgheri - 1960

In Bolgheri, it is not just the wines that make the difference. It is the people. And of all of them, the Incisa della Rocchetta family has always been the beating heart of this land. Enio remembers this well. In the 1960s, when times were tough and gifts were not at all taken for granted, it was the Marchesa herself who would send him the only Christmas gift he received. A small gesture, but one that spoke of care and respect.

But it was not just a matter of personal generosity. The Incisa family has always loved this land with a rare dedication: they preserved woods, marshes, ancient trees, protecting the landscape of Bolgheri when elsewhere everything was being destroyed in the name of progress.

Enio still tells it today, with emotion and gratitude, how generous and respectful they were of every person who lived and worked in this corner of Tuscany, without distinction, and how present they were in difficult times. Without fuss, without seeking recognition, just with the strength of those who do good without needing to be noticed.

To be their neighbors was, and still is, an immense privilege.
